Physician Career Services
Preparing for the job search and going through the interview and negotiating process can be a daunting process. There are a variety of components from start to finish in finding ones first job, or re-starting the process at any point in ones' career. The lack of formal education we as physicians get in this topic, and from my own personal experience, was one of the reasons I created this website. It first started as a place to compile information, tips, strategies to aid in the process that I have found helpful. Given the ever increasing complexity of physician Employment Agreements arrangements, and the restrictions being placed on physicians’ ability to practice in today’s employment marketplace, a thorough review of physician Employment Agreements is more prudent than ever.

As an extension of the free information found on this website, I want to offer personal services to deliver one on one assistance to those going through the process. This includes reviewing resumes, cover letters, and contract/Employment Agreements.

One thing important to me is to make sure each resident going into their first job understands their contract so they do not encounter any unexpected surprises once starting. I want to help in creating an Employment Agreement through review and negotiating that is an arrangement acceptable to all parties involved, both for the Employee and Employer. One should not sign a contract until it is completely understood, and feel 100% comfortable in what is included.

While it is important to have a lawyer review ones Employment Agreement, I also feel having someone in the field to which you practice offers additional value in knowing how contracts in podiatry function. I can fully admit I have had my contracts reviewed by lawyers and respect their advice. However I found items/advice they have given that I disagree with or items they have not brought up based on their unfamiliarity with the podiatric profession. I have found value in attendings and professional colleagues within podiatry reviewing my contract. Both reviews (lawyer AND podiatric profession) have proven key in me both understanding my contract, but also negotiate items that benefited me upfront and down the line. The more qualified people who can review the contract, the better.

Read more about the importance of CONTRACTS.

While not a lawyer (see Legal Disclaimer) I feel my experience and exposure to contracts to date puts me in a position to offer contract review services for those in the podiatric medical field. I have given lectures on this topic both locally and at the APMA National and Present Podiatry ResEd conferences. Further, over the last few years working with multiple large residency programs (3-4 residents per PGY), I have reviewed numerous contracts and performed reviews for my residents along with resume and cover letter reviews. Finally, in wanting to obtain the best contract possible from the Employees standpoint, I have reviewed a litany of documentation found throughout the internet (some items found on the CONTRACT section) to best educate myself in the process.

Have your Professional Documents (i.e, Resume, Cover Letter, Employment Agreement) reviewed by someone
experienced in in the DPM field who understands your unique background and experience.
